ICC: Vaccination Conversations Session Recordings

This day long event had a series of keynote and panel presentations as well a rapid fire poster presentation.  All presentations were delivered in English.  

Needles and robots and prizes, oh my! Better experiences mean more vaccinated children 
Now more than ever, we need to improve the vaccine experience for families to increase uptake of COVID-19 vaccines among children and youth. Join us to review easy, evidence-based techniques to make vaccinations better for children and families across the age spectrum.  Presented by Dr. Samina Ali and Dr. Elise Kammerer

CARD: Playing your best hand to improve the vaccination experience
Dr. Anna Taddio is currently funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) to implement and evaluate a vaccination delivery framework, the CARD system to reduce immunization stress-related responses and promote positive vaccination experiences. This information will  help prepare for COVID19 vaccination delivery for children and be applicable in all vaccination settings. 
A roundtable question and answer period including Dr. Samina Ali, Dr. Elise Kammerer & Dr. Anna Taddio was moderated by Paula Robeson.

Understanding the Risks and Communicating Uncertainty: an up-to-date review of the latest science and knowledge gaps
This session led by Fatima Tokhmafshan aimed to help participants articulate information to their patients regarding Omicron and understand the science on the current wave of the pandemic

The use of Motivational Interviewing when discussing with vaccine hesitant parents: Lessons from Quebec’s PromoVac Project
This session led by Dr. Arnaud Gagneur aimed to help particpants to understand the principles of Motivational Interviewing and integrate Motivational Interviewing into their daily practice with immunization hesitant parents.

Building Confidence Through Conversation: Useful tools to address hesitancy when discussing the vaccine
Dr. Cora Constantinescu explored what motivates uptake of the pediatric COVID-19 vaccine and how to support patients and fellow parents to protect their children  understanding the factors behind vaccine hesitancy and effective communication tools to use when having  vaccine conversations professionally or personally.

A roundtable question and answer period  with Fatima Tokhmafshan, Dr. Arnaud Gagneur, Dr. Cora Constantinescu was moderated by Paula Robeson.

Poster Tour
A live poster tour session moderated by Shawn Hillhouse, Executive Director of Ambulatory & Inpatient Care, Stollery Children's Hospital featured five selected posters presented in a rapid-fire format. Presenters from across the country covered cutting-edge research on topics like developing vaccine interventions, tools for practice, and building vaccine confidence with marginalized populations. The session was capped off with a live, round-table Q&A between our presenters and the audience.
